This work furnishes a critical account of two lines of thought represented by a range of contemporary authors in the realms of political philosophy and political theory in general. On the one hand, some voices spoke of "the end of history" with the fall of the Berlin Wall and the consequent success of a sole political system: a "truly existing" liberalism. -social and political reality based on the phenomenon of globalisation: from the limits and legitimation of the nation-state to the increasing decline in the active value of citizenship, the change in traditional "civil society" by new plural organisations, or the increasingly active presence of "others" with implacable demands in our societies. This text examines some of these political currents, while highlighting critical-dialectic ways to overcome them.
